Als Botel, auch Schiffshotel, wird im Allgemeinen eine mobile Gastwirtschaft auf einem Gewässer bezeichnet. Der Name leitet sich aus der Zusammensetzung der Wörter Boot und Hotel her. Besonders in wasserreichen Gegenden trifft man häufig auf diese Form der Gästeunterbringung. Anders als auf einem Kreuzfahrt- oder Flussschiff werden die Schlafräume nicht als "Kabinen", sondern wie bei Hotels als "Zimmer" bezeichnet. Botels verfügen gegenüber Hotels an Land über eine eingeschränkte Infrastruktur, dennoch bieten sie Komfort sowie einen Restaurationsbetrieb und/oder eine Bar. Beliebte Botel-Gebiete sind Alcúdia, Amsterdam, Bratislava, Budapest sowie Prag.

Unterscheidung zum Flussschiff mit Gästeunterbringung

Im Gegensatz zu Flussschiffen, welche tagsüber in Bewegung sind und nachts vor Anker liegen, besitzen Botels einen festen Anlegeplatz am Pier, welcher saisonal oder ganzjährig von der Schifffahrtsgesellschaft genutzt wird.
