Brown-Out

Ein Brownout (engl. brownout = Reduzierung der Lichtstärke, Abdunkelung) bezeichnet:

  • In Stromversorgungsnetzen einen kurzzeitigen Spannungseinbruch welcher als Flicker bezeichnet wird und eine Vorstufe eines Stromausfalls sein kann.
  • Das Absinken der Versorgungsspannung, primär bei Microcontrollern, welche einen Reset auslösen kann.
  • In der Informatik den Ausfall eines Servers, dessen Lasten von anderen Servern getragen werden müssen.
  • In der Luftfahrttechnik die Reduzierung bzw. der Verlust der Sicht beim Landen, hervorgerufen durch aufgewirbelten Staub, tritt häufig in Wüstengebieten auf.
