Built-to-Order

Built-to-Order ist eine strategisch operative Vorgehensweise eines Unternehmens (Herstellers) in Bezug auf den Zeitpunkt der Herstellung eines fertigzustellenden Gutes.

Das fertigzustellende Gut wird vom Kunden in den Details definiert und nach Auftragserteilung in der gewünschten Konfiguration gefertigt. Die Lieferanten des jeweiligen Unternehmens behalten dabei die Komponenten und Lieferteile meist so lange, bis diese benötigt werden. Der Bedarf wird nach konkreter Bestellung eines Kunden eingefordert.

Der Lieferant bedarf somit eines Auslieferungslagers, um Ware flexibel und schnell (zum Beispiel innerhalb einer Stunde) der Produktion des Unternehmens zuführen zu können. Dafür müssen Nachfrageprognosen zwischen Unternehmen und Lieferant ausgetauscht und erhoben werden, da der Lieferant in der Pflicht steht seine Planung und Lagerung zu koordinieren.
