Die BLU-3 Pineapple ist ein Bomblet, das bei Explosion 200–300 Stahlpellets mit hoher Geschwindigkeit freisetzt

BLU-3 Pineapple (Ananasbombe) ist eine Streubombe, die gegen ungepanzerte Ziele eingesetzt wird. Ihren Namen Ananasbombe erhielt sie aufgrund ihrer markanten Form, die einer Ananas ähnelt. Jede Mine enthält ca. 250 Stahlpellets von 6,3 Millimetern Durchmesser. Die Clusterbomben (Streubomben) enthalten bis zu 400 dieser BLU-3-Bomben. Sie werden meist durch Druckluft, oder den Winddruck aus 19 Ausstoßrohren (Luft-Dispenser) unmittelbar hintereinander ausgestoßen.

Nach Entlassung aus dem Luft-Dispenser entfalten sich die sechs Pop-out-Drag-Schaufeln und bremsen die Bombe ab. Beim Aufschlag explodiert die Bombe, wodurch lebende Ziele in einem Umkreis von 10 bis 15 Metern durch die mit hoher Energie explosiv freigesetzten Stahlpellets getötet oder verletzt werden. Die BLU-3 wurde im Vietnamkrieg von der United States Air Force eingesetzt.[1]

  • CBU-2B / A (409 BLU-3 / B in SUU-7 / A)
  • CBU-14 / A (BLU-3 / B in SUU-14 / A)
  • CBU-14A / A (BLU-3 / B in SUU-14A / A)
