Das California Bureau of Investigation (CBI) ist eine Strafverfolgungsbehörde des US-amerikanischen Bundesstaates Kalifornien. Sie untersteht dem Generalstaatsanwalt (Attorney General) und unterstützt die Bezirksstaatsanwälte (District Attorneys) und lokalen Strafverfolgungsbehörden in komplexen Fällen und Untersuchungen. Das Hauptquartier des CBI liegt in Sacramento. Zudem gibt es fünf Regionalbüros und drei field offices.
Zu den Aufgaben des CBI gehören u.a.:
- Das Zeugenschutzprogramm
- Das Vorgehen bei Gewaltverbrechen
- Vorgehen bei Sexualdelikten
- Die Überwachung von Sexualstraftätern
- Profiling bei Gewaltverbrechen
