Die California Lutheran University (CLU) ist eine private Universität der Evangelical Lutheran Church in America in der Stadt Thousand Oaks im Ventura County, Kalifornien, (USA).
Die CLU wurde im Jahr 1959 von der schwedischen Einwanderungsfamilie Pederson als California Lutheran College gegründet. 1986 wurde der Name in "University" geändert. Heute studieren etwa 4000 Hörer im College of Arts and Sciences mit 36 Hauptfächern, der School of Management und der School of Education, davon ein Drittel in Master- und MBA-Programmen. Der Lehrkörper besteht aus 154 Vollzeit- und 202 Teilzeit-Dozenten. Trotz der jährlichen Studiengebühr von fast $ 33 000 ist der Andrang beträchtlich, jedoch nur knapp die Hälfte aller Bewerber (2010: 47,2 %) wird aufgenommen. U.S. News and World Report reiht die Universität an 18. Stelle unter den regionalen Universitäten im Westen der USA.[1]
