Bánh bao sind vietnamesische Weizenmehlklöße, gefüllt mit Schweinefleisch, Pilzen ("Shiitake"), chinesische geräucherte Schweinewurst, Zwiebeln, geschnittenen Glasnudeln und Eiern.

Ohne Füllung schmecken sie wie deutsche Hefeklöße.
