Centropa

Centropa ist der Internetname des Vereins "Zentrum zur Erforschung und Dokumentation jüdischen Lebens in Ost- und Mitteleuropa” und ein englisch-, deutsch- und ungarischsprachiges Webportal. Der Schwerpunkt des Vereins liegt in der Vermittlung jüdischer Geschichte des 20. Jahrhunderts anhand von Zeitzeugenberichten. Der Hauptsitz befindet sich in Wien.

Jüdische Lebensgeschichten aus Mittel-. Ost- und Südeuropa werden mittels Interviews und der Digitalisierung von Familienfotos dokumentiert. Die Idee ist die Vernetzung von Fotos und erzählter Geschichte. Ziel ist es dabei nicht nur zu zeigen, wie Juden ermordet wurden, sondern vielmehr, wie sie lebten.[1] Neben biographischen Filmen, die vor allem im Schulbereich Einsatz finden, produziert Centropa auch Ausstellungen und Bücher, wie z.B. "Wie wir gelebt haben. Juden erinnern sich an ihr 20. Jahrhundert.", erschienen im Mandelbaum Verlag.
