Camporese

Omar Camporese (* 8. Mai 1968 in Bologna) ist ein italienischer Tennisspieler, welcher von 1986 bis 1998 Profitennisspieler war und Anfang der 1990er Jahre auf Platz 24 der Weltrangliste stand.

Bei den Australian Open 1991 lieferte er sich mit Boris Becker mit 311 Min. das bis dato längste Match der Turniergeschichte. Becker gewann mit 7:6, 7:6, 0:6, 4:6 und 14:12.

Der Italiener galt bei seinen Kollegen auf der ATP-Tour als geschätzter Gegner, der seinen Humor nie verlor. So bat er bei einem Spiel beispielsweise den Schiedsrichter mit einem entwaffnenden Lächeln, mit ihm zu tauschen, da er seinen Job bestimmt besser machen könne.

Camporese arbeitet heute als Tennislehrer im Clubhotel Olivi in Malcesine am Gardasee.
