Ein card guard (deutsch Karten-Beschützer) ist beim Poker die Bezeichnung für einen Gegenstand, den man bei Texas Hold’em und Omaha Hold’em auf seine Hole Cards legt, um damit zu signalisieren, dass man in der aktuellen Hand bleiben will. Ansonsten wäre es möglich, dass der Dealer die Karten versehentlich einsammeln würde. Ein weiterer Aspekt ist, dass die Spieler meist einen Glücksbringer als card guard benutzen um ihre Karten zu beschützen. Es wird jedoch von keinem Casino vorgeschrieben einen Card Guard zu benutzen.
