Die Gattung Himantura gehört zur Familie der Stechrochen (Dasyatidae). Die meisten Arten der Gattung leben im westlichen Pazifik oder im Indischen Ozean.

Merkmale

Die Arten der Gattung weisen eine große Vielfalt der Morphologie auf und sind vermutlich polyphyletisch. Von anderen Stechrochen unterscheiden sie sich vor allem durch die Abwesenheit von Hautfalten am Schwanz.
