Chet Helms

Chester Leo Helms (* 2. August 1942 in Santa Maria, Kalifornien; † 25. Juni 2005 in San Francisco) wurde als "Father of the 67er Summer of Love" bekannt.

Er war Mitgründer und Manager der Gruppe Big Brother & the Holding Company und holte Janis Joplin in die Band. Er organisierte unter dem Firmennamen Family Dog Production u.a. mit Bill Graham Konzerte im Fillmore Auditorium, im Winterland und im Avalon Ballroom in San Francisco.

Im Jahr 1970 zog er sich aus dem Konzertgeschäft zurück und managte eine Kunstgalerie und arbeitete als Fotograf. Er starb an den Folgen eines Schlaganfalles. Mit ihm ist einer der großen Persönlichkeiten der Hippie-Ära verstorben.
