Waiting For a Star to Fall ist ein Lied von Boy Meets Girl aus dem Jahr 1988. Das Lied wurde am 30. November 1988 als Single veröffentlicht. Es erreichte im Januar 1989 Platz 9 der UK Top 40.[1] In den USA war der Erfolg noch größer und die Single erreichte Platz 5 der Billboard Hot 100.[2]
Das Lied wurde ursprünglich für Whitney Houston geschrieben und komponiert, aber Houston war der Meinung, das Lied sei nicht für sie geeignet. Dann sollte das Lied Belinda Carlisle einsingen, welche eine Demo des Liedes aufnahm, für ihr Album Heaven on Earth. Die Demoaufnahme blieb unveröffentlicht. Erst Jahre später wurde sie im Internet veröffentlicht.
