Das Coatsland ist eine Region der Antarktis, die sich westlich an das Königin-Maud-Land anschließt und damit die östliche Küste des Weddell-Meeres bildet. Es erstreckt sich in einer Ausrichtung vom Südwesten nach Nordosten zwischen dem 20. und 36. Grad westlicher Breite. Der nordöstliche Teil wurde durch William Speirs Bruce entdeckt, der die schottische National Antarctic Expedition von 1902 bis 1904 leitete. Er benannte die Region nach James Coats Jr. und Major Andrew Coats, den wichtigsten Unterstützern der Expedition.

Im Dezember 1914 bis Januar 1915 führte Ernest Shackleton mit seiner Endurance-Expedition die weitere Erforschung nach Süden fort und erforschte dabei das Land, das Wilhelm Filchner von der Deutschland 1912 entdeckte. Er startete seine Expedition an der Caird-Küste.
