Command Line Editor

Ein Kommandozeileneditor ist ein Texteditor, der im Textmodus arbeitet und in erster Linie mit der Tastatur, also ohne Maus bedient wird.

Bekannte Kommandozeileneditoren in der Unix-Welt sind z. B. ed und ex; vi verfügt über einen Kommandozeilen-Modus. In der MS-DOS-Welt heißt der populärste Edlin. Diese Art von Texteditoren ist für Ungeübte oft ungewohnt zu bedienen. Sie finden vor allem Verwendung zum Editieren von Texten auf durch ein Computernetzwerk verbundenen Rechnern.
