Commodity Trading Advisor

Terminhandelsberater (englisch commodity trading advisor, CTA) ist die Berufsbezeichnung für den Manager eines speziellen Anlageprodukts ("Managed Futures") auf der Basis von Futures-Kontrakten.

Ursprünglich ist diese Berufsbezeichnung ausschließlich Unternehmen oder Personen vorbehalten, die sich unter Nachweis einer entsprechenden Befähigung bei der US-Aufsichtsbehörde "Commodity Futures Trading Commission" (CFTC) gemäß dem Bundesgesetz "Commodity Exchange Act" registrieren ließen. Zumal sich auch heute noch einige der wesentlichsten Futures-Börsen in den USA befinden, ist es für CTAs in der Regel auch notwendig, eine CFTC-Registrierung zu erlangen. CTAs unterliegen damit einer der am stärksten regulierten Finanzmarkt-Aufsichtsregime.
