Ein Appellationsgericht ist ein übergeordnetes Gericht, das über Rechtsbehelfe gegen Entscheidungen nachgeordneter Gerichte entscheidet, wobei diese zusammenfassend als Appellation bezeichnet werden. Nicht immer handelt es sich dabei um eine Berufung im engeren Sinne. Ebenso führen diese Gerichte in verschiedenen Ländern verschiedene Bezeichnungen:
