DMTF

Distributed Management Task Force (DMTF; früher Desktop Management Task Force) ist eine Normungsorganisation von Unternehmen der IT-Industrie.

Die DMTF wurde 1992 gegründet. In ihr sind industrielle Hersteller und Anwender in gemeinsamen Arbeitsgruppen organisiert, um die Entwicklung, Anpassung und Interoperabilität von Standards für das Systemmanagement und Initiativen für die Koordination des Systemmanagements in Unternehmens- und Internetumgebungen zu koordinieren.

Der DMTF gehören über 200 Unternehmen an, darunter AMD, CA, Cisco, Dell, EMC, Fujitsu, Hewlett-Packard, Hitachi, IBM, Intel, Microsoft, Novell, Oracle, Sun Microsystems, Symantec, WBEM Solutions.

Das Common Information Model (CIM) ist der wichtigste Standard der DMTF. Es regelt den Austausch von Informationen in plattformunabhängiger und technologieneutraler Form. Ziel ist die Rationalisierung und Kostensenkung bei der Integration unterschiedlicher Systeme. Die Standards garantieren das Zusammenwirken von Produkten unterschiedlicher Hersteller ohne aufwändige Datenkonversion.

  • Web-Based Enterprise Management (WBEM) - Erweiterung des CIM auf Interoperabilität über das Internet
  • Systems Management Architecture for Server Hardware (SMASH) - Systemmanagementstandards für Server Hardware
  • System Management BIOS (SMBIOS) - Systemmanagement auf BIOS-Ebene
  • Alert Standard Format (ASF) - Systemmanagementstandards für Geräte ohne Betriebssystem
  • Directory Enabled Network (DEN) - Organisation des CIM auf Verzeichnisbasis
  • Desktop Management Interface (DMI) - Erster DMTF Systemmanagement Standard, wird inzwischen nicht mehr weiter entwickelt
