David Burlyuk

Dawid Dawidowitsch Burljuk (russisch Давид Давидович Бурлюк; * 9. Julijul./ 21. Juli 1882greg. in Semirotowschtschina bei Charkow; † 15. Januar 1967 in Long Island, New York, USA) war ein russisch-amerikanischer Künstler, der zur Russischen Avantgarde zählte.

Leben

Gemeinsam mit seinem Bruder Wladimir Burljuk studierte er ab 1902 an der Königlichen Akademie der Schönen Künste in München und setzte später sein Studium an der École des Beaux-Arts in Paris fort.

Beginnend mit dem Jahr 1907 nahm er in Russland an zahlreichen avantgardistischen Ausstellungen teil. Gemeinsam mit dem Dichter Wladimir Majakowski und Wassili Kamenski organisierte er 1913/ 1914 eine Tournee der Futuristen durch 17 russische Städte.

Bereits im Jahre 1920 verließ er Russland und reiste zunächst nach Japan und in den Südpazifik. 1922 emigrierte er in die USA.
