Athenaios (altgr. Ἀθήναιος Nαυκράτιος - Athếnaios Naukratios, lat. Athenaeus Naucratita, selten Naucratitus) (Ende des 2./Anfang des 3. Jahrhunderts n. Chr.) war ein griechischer Rhetor und Grammatiker aus Naukratis in Ägypten. Athenaios lebte anfangs in Alexandria, später in der Hauptstadt Rom.

Sein Hauptwerk sind die Deipnosophistai (altgr. Δειπνοσοφισταί; dt. Gastmahl der Gelehrten), insgesamt 15 Bücher, von denen die ersten drei nur in Auszügen erhalten sind. Hierin behandeln der Gastgeber Pontifex Larensius und seine insgesamt 29 Gäste die altgriechische Sitten und Gebräuche, das Alltagsleben, die zeitgenössische Kunst und Wissenschaft in Form von Tischgesprächen. Durch die zahlreichen Zitate ersetzt die Sammlung zum Teil den Verlust zahlreicher Werke von Schriftstellern des Altertums.

Athenaios verfasste auch ein Werk über Kriegsmaschinen.
