Disaster Research Center

Die Katastrophenforschungsstelle (kurz: KFS) am Institut für Sozialwissenschaften der Universität Kiel ist die einzige deutsche katastrophensoziologische Forschungsstätte. Sie arbeitet seit ihrer Gründung 1986 durch Lars Clausen international und national in Forschung, Beratung und Training, vornehmlich für Auftraggeber aus dem öffentlichen und NGO-Bereich des Katastrophenschutzes, veranstaltet Seminare und gibt Veröffentlichungen heraus. Leiter (seit 2002): Wolf R. Dombrowsky.

Die weltweit erste Katastrophenforschungsstelle war das Disaster Research Center. Henry Quarantelli hat es 1963 an der Ohio State University etabliert und 1985 an die University of Delaware verlegt.
