Dodge ball

Dodgeball (deutsch Duck-Dich-Ball) ist ein Ballspiel, bei dem die Spieler, ähnlich wie bei Völkerball, dem Ball ausweichen sollen. In den USA ist Dodgeball sehr beliebt. Auch hier werden die Spieler in zwei Teams geteilt und auf zwei unterschiedliche Spielfelder verteilt. Jedoch gibt es hier normalerweise kein Außenfeld, in das die Spieler wechseln. Diese Variante nennt man Prisonball oder Crossfire.

In der normalen Spielvariante können neben einem auch mehrere Bälle verwendet werden, die nicht einfach einer Mannschaft überlassen werden, sondern am Anfang auf der Mittellinie liegen, wobei die Spieler am Ende ihrer Feldlinie starten. Durch Fangen des Balls kann man, je nach Regeln, den Werfer eliminieren und einen eigenen Teamkameraden wieder ins Feld holen. In der normalen Variante gibt es hier keinen König (Strohmann).

In Deutschland ist das Spiel als solches aber nicht sehr verbreitet.

Variationen

Variante des Dodgeballs

Dr. Dodgeball: In dieser Variante von Dodgeball gibt es einen König. Spieler, die getroffen werden, müssen sich auf den Boden legen, bis Dr. Dodgeball kommt und sie wieder belebt. Erst wenn der König selbst getroffen wird, endet das Spiel.

King's Court ist wie das normale Dodgeball, allerdings gibt es hier auch einen König, von dem Sieg oder Niederlage einer Mannschaft abhängen. Scheidet er aus, ist das Spiel zu Ende.

Ebenso existieren die Varianten Prisonball (Gefängnisball), Nationball, King's Court (Canada) oder Crossfire. Die letzte Variante ist dem deutschen Völkerball sehr ähnlich. Wird ein Spieler getroffen, so kommt er ins Gefängnis (hinter die feindliche Mannschaft). Von dort aus kann er versuchen, sich wieder ins Spiel zu werfen. Gelingt es einem Gefangenen, einen gegnerischen Spieler abzuwerfen, darf er wieder auf's Spielfeld. Hier gibt es keinen König.
