In der griechischen Mythologie war Aegiale die Frau des Diomedes, des Königs von Argos. Während er vor Troja im Krieg stand, wurde sie ihm untreu. Nach seiner Rückkehr versuchte sie ihn zu vergiften, was allerdings nicht gelang. Diomedes verließ daraufhin Argos und seine Frau und zog sich nach Süditalien (Apulien) zurück.
