Earl of Cambridge

Earl of Cambridge

Der Titel eines Earl of Cambridge wurde in der Peerage of England einige Male vergeben und ist seit 1362 (später auch als Duke of Cambridge oder Marquess of Cambridge) eng mit der britischen Königlichen Familie verbunden. Er ist nach der englischen Stadt Cambridge benannt.

Der erste Earl der vierten Verleihung des Titels, der Marquess of Hamilton, stand zu seiner Zeit an sechster Stelle der schottischen Thronfolge, sein Großvater James Hamilton, 2. Earl of Arran, war Thronfolger und Regent für Königin Maria von Schottland.
