Emergency Conditions

Emergency Conditions (engl. Notfallzustände), auch mit EMERGCON abgekürzt, bezeichnet einen notfallartigen Alarmzustand der US-amerikanischen Streitkräfte als Reaktion auf einen sogenannten ICBM-Angriff (Luftangriff mit Raketen).

Während eines EMERGCON werden alle Streitkräfte in DEFCON 1 versetzt.

Die zwei EMERGCON-Stufen

  • DEFENSE EMERGENCY: Ein großangelegter Angriff auf überseeische US-amerikanische Streitkräfte oder verbündete Streitkräfte oder ein offenkundiger Angriff jeglicher Art direkt auf die Vereinigten Staaten wird von dem Kommandanten eines einheitlichen oder festgelegten Kommandos oder einer höheren Autorität bestätigt.
  • AIR DEFENSE EMERGENCY ist eine Notfallstufe, die vom führenden Kommandanten des Nordamerikanischen Luftabwehrkommandos ausgerufen wird. Sie signalisiert, dass ein direkter Angriff von feindlichen Flugzeugen oder Raketen auf die Vereinigten Staaten, Kanada oder US-Einrichtungen in Grönland wahrscheinlich, unmittelbar bevorstehend oder bereits im Gange ist.
