Verlockende Falle (Originaltitel: Entrapment) ist ein US-amerikanischer Spielfilm der Gattung Thriller aus dem Jahr 1999. Der Regisseur war Jon Amiel, das Drehbuch schrieben Ronald Bass, William Broyles und Michael Hertzberg. Die Hauptrollen spielten Sean Connery und Catherine Zeta-Jones.

Handlung

Der Meisterdieb Robert MacDougal lernt die Meisterdiebin Virginia Baker kennen. Baker arbeitet für eine Versicherung; sie wurde beauftragt, sich als Diebin auszugeben und so MacDougal eine Falle zu stellen. Gemeinsam stehlen sie eine antike Maske. Später bereiten sie einen großen Diebstahl in den Petronas Towers in Kuala Lumpur vor. Der Alarm wird dabei ausgelöst, Baker kann flüchten, MacDougal bleibt zurück.

Etwas später treffen sich MacDougal und Baker auf einer Stadtbahn-Haltestelle. MacDougal warnt seine Partnerin, dass sie gleich festgenommen werden soll; die Polizeibehörden konnten vor einiger Zeit MacDougal entlarven und zwangen ihn, Baker zu finden und auszuliefern. Er hat sich allerdings in Virginia verliebt.

Baker kann flüchten. Etwas später verlassen die Polizisten die Haltestelle, Baker kommt wieder und trifft den wartenden MacDougal.

Kritiken

Der Film erhielt gemischte Kritiken, er wurde u.a. als ein halbherziges Konglomerat bezeichnet. In der Zeitschrift Der Spiegel 21/1999 wurde er als solider Thriller ohne Überraschungen bezeichnet, im TV Spielfilm 11/1999 als hinreißend.

Auszeichnungen

Sean Connery und Catherine Zeta-Jones gewannen den European Film Award. Catherine Zeta-Jones gewann außerdem den Blockbuster Entertainment Award, Sean Connery und Ving Rhames wurden für den gleichen Preis nominiert. Christopher Young gewann den BMI Film Music Award.

Der Film wurde für die Goldene Himbeere nominiert.
