Fanfare Ciocărlia ist der Name einer zwölfköpfigen Roma-Blaskapelle[1] aus dem Dorf Zece Prăjini im ostrumänischen Bezirk Iaşi. Ursprünglich war die Gruppe eine traditionelle Dorfkapelle, die Balkan Brass im Stil der Roma spielte. Seit ihrer Entdeckung durch den Berliner Toningenieur Henry Ernst am 6. Oktober 1996 bespielen sie nun die Bühnen auf der ganzen Welt.

Typisch für die Band und die Musik ist unter anderem das extrem schnelle Tempo mit mehr als 200 Beats per minute, schnelle Trompeten- und Klarinettenläufe sowie das Erscheinen auf der Bühne mit zerbeulten Instrumenten, normaler Kleidung und ohne Noten.

In dem Film Borat spielt die Band eine Cover-Version von "Born to be wild".

Fanfare Ciocarlia war und ist an musikalischen Projekten mit den unterschiedlichsten Ausrichtungen beteiligt. Momentan führt die Gruppe ihr Konzertprojekt "The Gypsy Queens and Kings" zusammen mit Esma Redzepova (Mazedonien), Jony Iliev (Bulgarien), Florentina Sandu (Rumänien), Mitsou (Ungarn) und Kaloome (Frankreich) weltweit auf.
