Fire and Forget

Fire-and-Forget (engl. für „selbst zielsuchend“, wörtlich etwa „abfeuern und vergessen“) bezeichnet im Militärjargon die Fähigkeit von Lenkwaffen, Ziele ohne weitere Unterstützung der Feuerplattform oder des Schützen selbst anzusteuern, d. h. nach dem Abschuss steuern sich solche Waffen selbsttätig zum Ziel und bedürfen keinerlei weiterer Eingriffe durch die Feuerplattform.

Typische Fire-and-Forget-Flugkörper sind:

Im Gegensatz dazu stehen Waffen, die nach dem Abschuss oder Abwurf nicht „vergessen“ werden können, da sie mit einem Radar- oder Laserstrahl oder optisch (SACLOS) ins Ziel geleitet werden müssen. Dies schränkt die Manöverfähigkeit der Abschussplattform ein und gefährdet zusätzlich den Schützen oder die Abschusseinheit durch eine direkte Sichtverbindung zum Flugkörper oder Ziel, erhöht aber andererseits die Störsicherheit (z. B. gegen ECM) der Waffe. Es gibt auch Waffen, die mit beiden Feuermodi separat oder gemeinsam gesteuert werden können.

Das Fire-and-Forget-Prinzip taucht davon abgeleitet auch in anderen Fachgebieten als oft abwertende jargon- und fachsprachliche Bezeichnung auf. In der Informatik charakterisiert es beispielsweise einfache Netzwerkprotokolle ohne Empfangsbestätigung (UDP) oder den Versand von Spam-Nachrichten.
