Fotheringay

Fotheringay ist eine erfolgreiche und musikalisch anspruchsvolle britische Folkrockband, die von Sandy Denny 1969 nach ihrem Ausstieg bei Fairport Convention gegründet wurde.

Die Band bestand aus:

  • Sandy Denny: Gesang, Klavier, Akustische Gitarre
  • Trevor Lucas: Gesang, Akustische und E-Gitarre
  • Jerry Donahue: Lead-Gitarre, Chorgesang
  • Gerry Conway: Schlagzeug, Chorgesang
  • Pat Donaldson: Bass, Chorgesang
  • Linda Peters, Tod Lloyd: Chorgesang

Der Band- und LP-Name wurde einer melancholischen Ballade von Sandy Denny entlehnt, die sie mit Fairport Convention 1969 veröffentlicht hatte. Musikalisch bot das Album ausgereifte Folk- und Rocksongs mit gelegentlichen Country- oder Blues-Anleihen. 1971 löste sich die Band vorläufig auf, und Sandy Denny startete auf Anraten des Bandmitglieds und ihres späteren Ehemannes Trevor Lucas eine Solokarriere. Erst im September 2008 erschien das zweite Album Fotheringay 2.
