Yisrael Galili (hebräisch ‏ישראל גלילי‎; * 10. Februar 1911 in Brailow; † 8. Februar 1986) war ein israelischer Politiker.

Leben

Galili wurde 1911 im ukrainischen Brailow geboren. Seine Familie emigrierte 1914 nach Palästina und siedelte in Tel Aviv. Nach dem Schulbesuch und einer Lehre begann er 1927 eine militärische Karriere bei der Haganah. 1935 wurde in die Führung der Haganah berufen. Während des Zweiten Weltkrieges war er an Vorbereitungen zur Verhinderung einer deutschen Invasion Palästinas beteiligt. 1946 wurde er zum Stabschef der Hagana berufen und war bis 1948 in dieser Funktion tätig.

Galili gehörte zu den Begründern der Jugendgruppen und eines Kibbuz namens Na'an, wo er bis zu seinem Tod lebte. In der ersten Knesset und dann von der dritten bis zur achten Knesset war er als Abgeordneter tätig. Er war zunächst Mitglied der Mapam-Partei, später der Achdut HaAvodah und der israelischen Labour-Partei. Er diente kurzzeitig als Informationsminister und dann als Minister ohne Geschäftsbereich.
