Georgi Ivanovich Petrov

Georgi Iwanowitsch Petrow (russisch Георгий Иванович Петров, wiss. Transliteration Georgij Ivanovič Petrov; * 31. Mai 1912; † 17. Mai 1987) war ein sowjetischer Ingenieur.

Von 1965 bis 1973 war Petrow Direktor des Institut für Weltraumforschung der Akademie der Wissenschaften der UdSSR.

Nach ihm sind folgende numerische Verfahren benannt, die in der numerischen Strömungssimulation zur Berechnung verwendet werden:

  • Upwinding-Petrov-Galerkin-Verfahren
  • Streamline-Upwind-Petrov-Galerkin Verfahren (SUPG)
