Ghiz

Robert Ghiz, (* 21. Januar, 1974 in Charlottetown) ist seit dem 12. Juni 2007 Premierminister von Prince Edward Island^[1] und Sohn des ehemaligen Premierministers der Provinz, Joe Ghiz. Er ist Mitglied der Prince Edward Island Liberal Party und seit 2003 deren Vorsitzender.

Ghiz wuchs in Charlottetown auf. Er diente in der Reserve der kanadischen Streitkräfte und machte seinen Bachelor in Politikwissenschaften an der Bishop's University.

Unter Ghiz' Führung gewann die Liberale Partei am 28. Mai 2007 die Parlamentswahlen in Prince Edward Island, wodurch die elfjährige Amtszeit von Pat Binns, dem dienstältesten Premier einer kanadischen Provinz, beendet wurde. Die Liberalen halten nun 23 der 27 Sitze in der Legislativversammlung von Prince Edward Island.
