IGS-3a

IGS-3a (englisch Information Gathering Satellites, so viel wie Informationssammelsatellit) ist ein japanischer militärischer Aufklärungssatellit.

Dabei handelt es sich um den dritten Satelliten des Landes, der zur Sammlung von Informationen dient, die auf optischer Beobachtung beruhen. Er ist ein Nachfolgemodell des Aufklärungssatelliten, der bei einem früheren Start verloren ging.[1]

Der Start erfolgte am 11. September 2006 mit der Trägerrakete H-2A/202, die vom Tanegashima-Raumfahrtzentrum abhob. Der Betreiber ist die JIDF (Japanese Information Defense Force). Die Masse des Satelliten beträgt wahrscheinlich 850 Kilogramm. [2]
