Die International Billiards & Snooker Federation (kurz IBSF) ist der Welt-Dachverband für Amateure in den Billardvarianten Snooker und English Billiards. Die IBSF wurde 1971 als World Billiards & Snooker Council gegründet und 1973 in International Billiards & Snooker Federation umbenannt. Sie ist die Snooker-Abteilung der World Confederation of Billiard Sports (WCBS). Präsident ist Pascal Guillaume.
Ziele und Aufgaben
Die IBSF koordiniert und vermarktet English Billiards und Snooker auf Amateur-Ebene. Darüber hinaus entscheidet sie über Bedingungen, Ablauf, Termine und Austragungsorte der folgenden Sport-Veranstaltungen:
- IBSF Weltmeisterschaften Snooker Damen
- IBSF Weltmeisterschaften Snooker Herren
- IBSF Weltmeisterschaften Snooker Senioren
- IBSF Weltmeisterschaften Snooker U21
- IBSF World Snooker Team Cup
- IBSF Weltmeisterschaften English Billiards
Diese Turniere werden durch die IBSF in der Regel jährlich ausgetragen. Die Definition eines Amateurs wird durch die IBSF am Welt-Dachverband der Snooker-Profis World Snooker Association (WSA) ausgerichtet, wonach alle Spieler an IBSF-Weltmeisterschaften teilnahmeberechtigt sind, welche in der entsprechenden Saison nicht Teilnehmer der WSA Snooker Main Tour sind.
Organisation
Der IBSF-Vorstand besteht derzeit aus folgenden Mitgliedern:
- Präsident Pascal Guillaume
- Vize-Präsident Ali Asghar Valika
- Generalsekretär Mohammed Kammah
- Finanzdirektor Ray Habgood
sowie Jim Leacy, Sindhu Pulsivirung, Maxime Cassis, Rahen Ghurburrun und Barrie Jones.
Dem IBSF-Vorstand sind 9 Gremien unterstellt.
Der IBSF gehören folgende Kontinental-Verbände sowie die in ihnen organisierten entsprechenden Staats-Verbände an:
- African Billiards & Snooker Federation (Afrika)
- Asian Confederation of Billiard Sports (Asien)
- European Billiards & Snooker Association (Europa)
- Oceania Billiards & Snooker Federation (Australien, Fiji, Neuseeland, Papua Neu Guinea)
sowie die USA Billiards & Snooker Association und die Canada Billiards & Snooker Association.
