Die Hilfsaktion Märtyrerkirche (HMK) ist eine überkonfessionelle Hilfsorganisation für verfolgte Christen, die 1969 durch den rumänischen lutherischen Pfarrer Richard Wurmbrand (1909–2001) entstanden ist und sich als politisch und kirchlich unabhängig bezeichnet.
Tätigkeit
Neben der Verbreitung christlicher Literatur leistet die HMK finanzielle und materielle Unterstützung für christliche Gemeinden und Einrichtungen in ehemals kommunistischen Staaten und seit dem Zusammenbruch des Ostblocks zunehmend in islamischen Staaten.
Vereinssitz ist Uhldingen-Mühlhofen. Die HMK gibt die monatliche Zeitschrift „Stimme der Märtyrer“ heraus, die (2008) in einer Auflage von rund 20.000 Exemplaren erscheint.
Daneben stellt sie Broschüren, Bücher, Bild- und Tonträger über ihre Arbeit und die Situation der bedrängten Christen her, bietet Vorträge in Kirchengemeinden und Schulklassen an, verleiht Standschautafeln über ihre allgemeine Arbeit und über den Islam und unterhält ständige Ausstellungen an ihrem Sitz in Uhldingen-Mühlhofen („Christenverfolgung im 20. Jahrhundert und heute“).
Organisation
Mit anderen auf Richard Wurmbrand zurückgehenden Organisationen arbeitet die HMK in der International Christian Association (ICA) zusammen. Der internationale Name lautet auch Voice of the Martyrs („Stimme der Märtyrer“).
Der deutsche Verein ist als gemeinnützig anerkannt und beschäftigt 6 hauptamtliche Mitarbeiter. Vorstandsvorsitzender ist Kirchenrat Dr. Rolf Sauerzapf. Die HMK Schweiz mit Sitz in Thun hat 6 hauptamtliche und ca. 20 ehrenamtliche Mitarbeiter, der österreichische Verein in Wien wird von 2 ehrenamtlichen Kräften betreut. Die Vereine haben nur sehr wenige formelle Mitglieder, aber einen großen Spenderkreis. Die Arbeit wird zu 100 % aus Spenden finanziert.
