An Óige (irisch für Jugend), englisch: Irish Youth Hostel Association (IYHA), ist der Jugendherbergsverband der Republik Irland.
An Óige wurde 1931 als Organisation auf Mitgliedschaftsbasis gegründet [1] und ist Mitglied in der International Youth Hostel Federation. Der Sitz ist in der Hauptstadt Dublin, Mountjoy Street 61, im Gebäude der dortigen Jugendherberge (JH) – acht Fußminuten von der O'Connell Street entfernt und vom Flughafen Dublin in knapp einer Std. per Dublin Bus (16 A oder teurer mit dem Airlink) zu erreichen.
An Óige betreibt in der Republik Irland in eigener Regie derzeit (Anfang 2009) 26 Jugendherbergen, von denen einige nur in der Sommersaison geöffnet sind. Die Häuser in den großen irischen Städten wie Dublin, Cork oder Galway, aber u.a. auch die JHs in Fossa bei Killarney im County Kerry, bei Cong im County Mayo, am Fuß des Errigal bei Gweedore im County Donegal oder in Glendalough im County Wicklow sind jedoch ganzjährig geöffnet. Übernachtungen sind auch ohne JH-Mitgliedsausweis möglich, dann aber um durchschnittlich 2 € / Nacht teurer. Eine Altersbeschränkung existiert nicht; in den Touristenmonaten (Mai bis September) ist Vorbestellung generell empfehlenswert. Für die Bank Holiday-Wochenenden sind die JHs üblicherweise schon Wochen vorher ausgebucht. Mit den überall in Irland existierenden Backpacker Hostels hat An Óige keine Verbindung; mit dem Schwesterverband [2] in Nordirland gibt es jedoch punktuell eine freundliche Zusammenarbeit.
