JR Central

Central Japan Railway Company (jap. 東海旅客鉄道株式会社, Tōkai ryokaku tetsudō kabushiki gaisha, kurz: JR東海, JR Tōkai), auch oft als JR Central bezeichnet, ist eine der sieben Nachfolger der 1987 privatisierten Japanese National Railways.

Im Geschäftsjahr 2006 (1. April 2006 bis 31. März 2007) erzielte die JR Central im operativen Geschäft (fast ausschließlich Eisenbahnen) einen Umsatz von 1,2 Billionen Yen (rund 7,2 Mrd. Euro) und einen Gewinn von 380 Mrd. Yen (rund 2,2 Mrd. Euro). Größte Aktionäre der Gesellschaft (Stand: 31. März 2007) sind die Mizuho Corporate Bank (Mizuho Financial Group) und die Master Trust Bank of Japan (zu 46 % im Besitz der Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group, die selbst weitere drei Prozent an JR Central hält), die jeweils über vier Prozent der Aktien halten. Die Abwicklungsabteilung der japanischen Behörde für Eisenbahnbau, Transport und Technologie (JRTT) hat ihre Anteile inzwischen vollständig verkauft.[1]

Geschichte

JR Central wurde am 1. April 1987 gegründet, nachdem die staatliche Eisenbahngesellschaft Japans privatisiert und aufgespaltet wurde.

Hauptsächlich wird die Tōkai- und die Chūbu-Region versorgt.
