Kototama

Kotodama oder kototama (jap. 言霊) bezeichnet im Japanischen Wörter, denen eine Vielzahl magischer Wirkungen zugeschrieben wird. Manchmal wird mit Kotodoma auch die Wirkung dieser Wörter bezeichnet.

Kotodama finden sich in der Religion (so im Norito des Shintō) aber auch in den Kampfkünsten wieder (z. B. in den Kiai). Morihei Ueshiba, Begründer des Aikido glaubte ebenfalls an ihre Wirkung.
