Layer 2 Forwarding

Layer 2 Forwarding (L2F) ist ein Netzwerkprotokoll (ähnlich PPTP), das verschiedene Protokolle und mehrere unabhängige Tunnel unterstützt. Die Benutzeridentifizierung ist schwächer als bei PPTP und L2F bietet keine Verschlüsselung der Daten.

Layer-2 Forwarding wurde etwa gleichzeitig wie PPTP gemeinsam von den Unternehmen Cisco, Northern Telecom und Shiva entwickelt. Inzwischen hat L2F zugunsten von L2TP und PPTP an Bedeutung verloren.
