Die Nonen (lat. Nonae) eines Monats sind bestimmte Tage im römischen Kalender. In den Monaten März, Mai, Juli und Oktober[1] fielen sie auf den 7., in den anderen Monaten auf den 5. Tag des Monats. Die Nonen waren neben den Kalenden, Iden und Terminalien einer der vier feststehenden Feiertage, die jeder Monat des römischen Kalenders hatte. Der Name (von lat. nonus, „der Neunte“) ergibt sich daraus, dass die Nonen der neunte Tag vor den Iden (Dreizehnter bzw. Fünfzehnter) sind.

Diese vier Feiertage bezeichneten ursprünglich die Mondviertel (Kalenden: Neumond, Iden: Vollmond, Nonen und Terminalien: zunehmender bzw. abnehmender Halbmond). Mit der Abkopplung der Monate vom Mondlauf ging auch dieser Zusammenhang verloren. Die Terminalien wurden mit der Julianischen Kalenderreform (außer für den Februar) ganz abgeschafft.
