Apistinae

Die Wespenfische (Apistinae) sind eine Unterfamilie der Skorpionfische (Scorpaenidae) aus der Ordnung der Panzerwangen (Scorpaeniformes). Ihre Brustflossen sind stark verlängert und erinnern an Insektenflügel. Drei Brustflossenstrahlen stehen frei und haben keine Verbindung durch eine Membrane. Die Schwimmblase ist zweigeteilt. Wespenfische leben als Bodenbewohner im westlichen Indopazifik. Ihre Schwimmblase ist zweilappig. Sie werden etwa 20 Zentimeter lang.

Systematik

Es gibt drei Arten, in drei monotypischen Gattungen.

  • Apistops caloundra (De Vis, 1886)
  • Apistus carinatus (Bloch & Schneider, 1801)
  • Cheroscorpaena tridactyla (Mees, 1964)
