Margalla Hills

Die Margalla Hills sind eine Reihe von Hügeln im Norden Islamabads in Pakistan. Sie eignen sich besonders zum Wandern oder zum Besichtigen der Stadt. Sie liegen direkt hinter der Faisal-Moschee, der größten Moschee der Welt. Die beste Zeit dafür ist der Winter, wenn weniger Regen fällt und die Tage von der Temperatur her angenehmer sind.

Flora und Fauna

Die Hügellandschaft ist für Wanderer besonders wegen ihrer Flora und Fauna interessant. So handelt es sich bei den bewaldeten Hügeln um eines der letzten Beispiele des westlichen himalajischen immergrünen Waldes. Zur Fauna gehören der Indische Leopard, der Rhesusaffe und der Graue Goral. Auch die Avifauna ist reichhaltig in diesem Gebiet.
