Mutt and Jeff

Mutt and Jeff war ein Comicstrip, der von 1907 bis 1982 erschien. Er wurde von Bud Fisher erfunden und von diesem bis 1932 gezeichnet, danach wurde er von Al Smith gezeichnet. Teilweise haben auch Ken Kling, Ed Mack und George Breisacher Episoden gezeichnet.

Der Comic wurde zuerst A. Mutt genannt und erschien auf den Sportseiten des San Francisco Chronicle. Mit zunehmendem Erfolg wechselte später die Reihe zum San Francisco Examiner. Später erschien er in der All-American Comics.

1910, also während der Stummfilm-Ära, begann man Mutt and Jeff-Trickfilm zu produzieren. Bald wurden in Hollywood pro Woche über 300 Filme der Reihe produziert, wodurch diese zur längsten Trickfilmreihe wurde, die jemals für das Kino produziert wurde.
