Harry (Donald) Secombe (* 8. September 1921 in Swansea, Wales; † 11. April 2001 in Guildford, England) ist ein britischer Schauspieler und Sänger.

Leben und Werk

1949 bildete er zusammen mit Peter Sellers, Spike Milligan und Michael Bentine die Blödeltruppe Goons. Ab diesem Jahr drehte er auch Filme, die meist komischer Art waren. Daneben war er in zahllosen TV-Sendungen zu sehen und hatte in den 1960ern und 1970ern seine eigene Show. Zeitprobleme scheint er nicht gehabt zu haben, denn in Musicals trat er ebenfalls noch auf. In der britischen Hitparade tauchte Harry Secombe zum erstenmal 1955 mit "On With The Motley" auf, ein Top-20-Hit. Sein größter Erfolg nach einer weiteren Top-20-Notierung im Jahre 1963 war im Frühjahr 1967 eine neue Version von "This Is My Song", die es in GB bis auf Platz 2 brachte. Die Nummer war von Charlie Chaplin geschrieben worden.

Er wurde 1981 zum "Commander of the Order of British Empire (CBE)" ernannt.
