Four Freedoms Award

Der Four Freedoms Award ist eine jährlich verliehene Auszeichnung, die an Frauen und Männer (und Gruppen), die sich um „Die vier Freiheiten“, die Franklin D. Roosevelt in seiner Rede vor dem amerikanischen Kongress am 6. Januar 1941 beschworen hat, verdient gemacht haben, verliehen wird.

Der Preis wird jeweils in vier Kategorien verliehen:

  1. Freedom of speech
  2. Freedom of religion
  3. Freedom from want
  4. Freedom from fear

1990, 1995, 2003 und 2004 wurden noch andere Preise vergeben.

In ungeraden Jahren wird der Preis in New York von dem Franklin and Eleanor Roosevelt Institute vergeben; in geraden Jahren werden in Middelburg von der Roosevelt Stichting Nicht-Amerikaner geehrt.
