Der Distrikt Njombe im südlichen Hochland von Tansania ist einer von insgesamt sieben Distrikten der Region Iringa und hat etwa 420.000 Einwohner.

Die gleichnamige Kleinstadt Njombe befindet sich in einer Höhe von ca. 1.900 m und hat ca. 20.000 Einwohner. Njombe erlangte traurige Berühmtheit, als es um 1945/1946 von einer Löwenplage heimgesucht wurde, der mehr als 1.000 Einwohner zum Opfer fielen.

Die Stadt Njombe ist Sitz des Bistum Njombe.
