Office of Film and Literature Classification

Office of Film and Literature Classification (OFLC) ist eine Behörde in Australien, die für die Altersfreigaben zuständig ist. Die OFLC klassifiziert Filme und Videospiele. Um vertrieben werden zu können, muss ein Medium gekennzeichnet sein, ansonsten ist es gleichgestellt mit verbotenen Medien.

Freigaben bei Filmen

Beispiel MA15+

Die folgenden Freigaben haben lediglich beratenden Charakter:

  • G (General) - bedeutet, dass das Medium für alle Altersklassen freigegeben ist.
  • PG (Parental guidence recommended) - bedeutet, dass bei jüngeren Kindern Begleitung durch die Eltern angebracht ist.
  • M (Recommended for mature audiences) - bedeutet, dass das Medium nur für ältere Personen empfohlen wird.

Die folgenden Freigaben sind verbindlich:

  • MA15+ (Not suitable for people under 15. Under 15s must be accompanied by a parent or adult guardian) - bedeutet, dass Personen unter 15 Jahren von einem Erwachsenen begleitet sein müssen.
  • R18+ (Restricted to 18 and over) - Ab 18 Jahren freigegeben.
  • X18+ (Restricted to 18 and over) - Ab 18 Jahren freigegeben (betrifft nur Pornografie).
  • Eine Freigabe kann auch verweigert werden, was bedeutet, dass das entsprechende Medium verboten ist. (Refused Classification)

Freigaben bei Videospielen

Entsprechen den Freigaben für Filmen, jedoch sind "R18+" und "X18+" nicht möglich. Daher wird die Freigabe auch häufig abgelehnt (beispielsweise GTA San Andreas, Leisure Suit Larry, etc.).

Freigaben bei Publikationen

Einige Bücher, Comics, Magazine usw. müssen ebenfalls geprüft werden. Sie erhalten dann eine der folgenden, verbindlichen Freigaben:

  • Unrestricted - Uneingeschränkt für alle Altersklassen verkaufbar.
  • Category 1 / Category 2 Ab 18 Jahren freigegeben. In Queensland sind diese Publikationen sogar ganz verboten.
  • Auch hier kann die Freigabe verweigert werden (Refused Classification)
