Als Oxisol bezeichnet man gemäß der USDA-Bodenklassifikation stark verwitterte tropische Böden, wie man sie häufig in den tropischen Regionen Afrikas und Südamerikas findet, in denen ein stabiles Klima mit hoher Luftfeuchtigkeit herrscht. Nach dem internationalen WRB-Klassifizierungssystem werden diese Böden als Ferralsole bezeichnet.

Oxisole sind meist sehr stark sauer und bilden in der Regel keine ausgeprägten Bodenhorizonte aus. Aufgrund starker Verwitterung sind sie meist rot gefärbt, was auf den hohen Gehalt an Eisen- und Aluminiumoxiden hinweist. Landwirtschaftlich können Oxisole ohne Zusatzstoffe nur kurzzeitig genutzt werden, da sie aufgrund ihres geringen Nährstoffgehalts schnell erschöpft sind. Düngemittel und Kalk zur Neutralisierung des ph-Werts können allerdings in diesem Fall Abhilfe schaffen.

Weltweit sind etwa 9,8 Millionen Quadratkilometer oder 7,5 Prozent der Landfläche der Erde mit Oxisolen bedeckt.
