Partnership International e.V. (PI) ist ein gemeinnütziger Verein für internationale Begegnungen und Austauschprogramme. PI führt sowohl Jugend- und Schülerprogramme, als auch Studenten- und Erwachsenenprogramme durch.

Geschichte

Der Verein wurde in den 60er Jahren von ehemaligen Fulbright Stipendiaten ins Leben gerufen. US-Senator James William Fulbright war bis zu seinem Tod im Jahr 1995 Ehrenpräsident des Vereins.

Zweck des Vereins

Aus der Satzung : „Der Zweck des Vereins ist die Förderung von internationalen ,wissenschaftlichen, pädagogischen und kulturellen Begegnungen. Der Verein fördert insbesondere den Austausch von Jugendlichen vor allem aus der Bundesrepublik Deutschland und den Vereinigten Staaten von Amerika.“

Struktur des Vereins

Der Vorsitzende des ehrenamtlich tätigen Vorstands ist Kristof Scheller. Auf hauptamtlicher Seite ist Jörg C. Plogmaker der Geschäftsführer. Der Verein hat seine Bundesgeschäftsstelle in Köln, wobei auch ein Hauptstadtbüro in Berlin besteht.

Partnership International e.V. weltweit

Am Partnership International-Programm nehmen folgende Nationen teil:

Deutschland, USA, Großbritannien, Irland, Volksrepublik China, Südafrika, außerdem wurde Argentinien neu ins Programm aufgenommen.
