Die Stadt Phuthaditjhaba in der Gemeinde Maluti a Phofung, Distrikt Thabo Mofutsanyane, Provinz Freistaat, war die Hauptstadt des ehemaligen südafrikanischen Homelands QwaQwa.[1]

Heute hat die Stadt 117.605 Einwohner (Stand: 2010; Hochrechnung).[2] Der Name Phuthaditjhaba kommt aus dem Süd-Sotho und bedeutet ‚Versammlungsort der Stämme‘. Die Stadt wird hauptsächlich von Menschen der Stämme Kgolokwe und Tlokwa bewohnt.
